Highline Mushrooms Gardener Appreciation Day 2025

Highline Mushrooms is pleased to announce the continuation of the Gardener Appreciation Day tradition at our Crossfield, Alberta Location.  This year, the event will take place on May 10 2025, Mother’s Day Weekend

EVENT DETAILS: SATURDAY, MAY 10, 2025 – 8:30 A.M. TO 3:30 P.M. CROSSFIELD, ALBERTA

We will provide a skid steer to assist in loading trucks and trailers up to one ton in size. The spent mushroom substrate will be distributed and loaded free of charge while supplies last. The designated loading area will be located on the east side of the farm, and attendees are encouraged to follow the posted directions.

People still can come out every day and load their own containers at no charge as always. This area is situated on the right side of the driveway upon entering the premises. Please be advised that only hand tools are permitted in this section.

Gardener Appreciation Day is a highly anticipated event for gardeners in central Alberta. The spent mushroom substrate offers a valuable resource for enhancing lawns, shrubs, gardens, and trees, even in less than-ideal soil conditions. This substrate provides essential nutrients and organic matter necessary for promoting healthy, long-lasting growth. Additionally, the inclusion of peat moss further improves its soil conditioning properties.

Please note that while spent mushroom substrate serves as an excellent soil supplement, it is not intended to replace soil entirely.

Highline Mushrooms West: Crossfield Farm is situated between Airdrie and Crossfield on the east side of Queen Elizabeth Highway #2, directly east of the Dickson-Stevenson Rest Stop. To access the farm, travel

10 kilometers north of Airdrie to the Crossfield/Drumheller exit (Highway 72) Exit 295. Take the Drumheller exit east and continue to the service road. Turn right onto the service road and follow it south to reach the farm.
